Oh My Blog is a monthly interview series, where fellow bloggers come together to answer a series of questions on a specific theme. This is a chance to get acquainted with a whole range of bloggers, some of whom you may not have heard of before, and learn a little more about them!

Oh My Blog! With Mummy Matters

This month, the theme is Mums (because it’s Mother’s Day soon!) and we’re hosting Sabina from Deep In Mummy Matters.

Introduce us to your mum. What’s her name? What does she do? Reveal her age if you dare!
My Mum’s name is Jan and she is a Receptionist for a large firm of Accountants in Peterborough. This year we will be celebrating her 60th birthday.

What’s the one thing your mum always used to say to you?
I’m proud of you.

Someone’s playing your mum in a film. Who is it and why?
Oh wow that’s a really difficult one! I can’t think of a single actress who reminds me of my Mum. Maybe Meryl Streep but that could be because she is the actress on my TV at the moment?!

She’s won the lottery. What’s the first thing your mum buys for herself?
She might buy herself a new car or possibly a new house. Mum would think very carefully about what to spend her money on.

What embarrassing story about you does she always tell when you meet new people?
None, my Mum doesn’t make fun of people and would only tell people how proud she is of me.

What are your plans for Mother’s Day this year?
This year my Mum and I shall be having a day out somewhere just the two of us. We alternate between spending a day just the two of us and a day with the children. If it’s just the two of us we will have a day out shopping somewhere nice.

What’s her favourite TV show at the moment?
Mum likes shows about houses and architecture, she loves George Clarkes Amazing Spaces.

What’s the biggest or most important thing that your mum inspired you to do?
Be a good Mum and work hard.

Your round at the bar! What’s your mum drinking?
Half a lager

What’s the biggest different between you and your mum?
Our shoe choices! Mum likes pointy toes and high heels, I like rounded or square toes and low heels.

Most important question of the lot. What is your mum’s stance on 50 Shades of Grey? Does she love it? Hate it? Not even know what it is?
We are going to watch 50 Shades Darker next week – does that answer your question.

What’s your favourite memory of your mum?
My Mum has always been there for me, she is my best friend and confidant, always there to support me no matter what.

What do you think your mum was like as a kid?
I think my Mum would have been a good helper to her parents and would have got up to mischief with her sisters.

Cast your mind back a bit; what was the thing you did as a child or teenager that made your mum the angriest she has ever been with you?
Probably when I went out to a party in a different town and missed my ride back. It was before mobile phones and we didn’t have a home phone so I had no way of contacting her to let her know I was ok. She was worried sick by the time I got home in the morning.

Finally, what’s the BEST piece of advice your mum ever gave to you?
Be yourself and trust your instincts. My Mum has always made me believe in myself and never fails to tell me how proud she is of me so I feel confident in my abilities.
