If you follow our Instagram & blog posts you’ll know we are members & HUGE fans of Willows Farm in St Albans. We decided to take our first trip of the summer holidays to Willows Farm on Sunday!
Our Six Weeks Holiday Experiences – Willows Farm
I honestly thought the place was going to be rambo what with the weather being amazing & it being a weekend of the school holidays, miraculously the place was exceptionally quiet & B couldn’t wait to get in.
They have installed a new area where you can have images taken by the onsite photographers, you have to pretend to be in a tractor & then pretend to be running away. Pictures can be bought from their newly opened photography hut (they also take professional images of you with the characters) sadly all of our images were out of focus so we couldn’t buy any of them which was gutting! We will however be trying again next time!! I do recommend having this images taken, I really regret the lack of images I have of me & B together.
I decided due to the timing of when we arrived, for opening, we would have some pictures taken with Benjamin Bunny first! JUST as Benjamin was on his way out the photographer walked off & I was left to scrabble around with my camera to get the setting correct for the dark under the lean to where you have pictures taken with Benjamin! I managed it just in time, as per usual the characters were fabulous! I can’t begin to think how hot it must be in the costumes for the people inside, I mean for poor Benjamin!
Benjamin was fabulous with B & I got a fabulous picture of them together & for the first time in what seems like a year a great picture of me & B that ISN’T A SELFIE!!!
B decided he wanted to go on the playground equipment after this & first up was Mr Todd’s Lair, thankfully they have a new food hut right next to the area & I grabbed myself a lovely cold water! It was a really hot day so B didn’t stay too long on each piece of equipment before wanting to move on. He had his first go on their zip line & absolutely loved it, it was a fast one too! Although the noise coming from him I thought he was absolutely hating it haha, apparently not though.
Next up B had a go on the bouncy slide but decided it was too hot, he had been warned by a female member of staff but still wanted to try it for himself. This was at 10:30am ISH so please keep an eye if your children do head that way that the slide may be unbearably hot!
I noticed that the rides were empty so B got to have a solo ride on one of the mechanical rides, they are usually super busy so this was a lovely treat. Just as it started though he lifted his legs up as he’d noticed a spider so spent the whole time with his legs up, bless him.
You can see him checking the spider hadn’t moved in the top left hand image below.
A great family activity is to take part in is ‘ The Woodland Play Trail’ B loves this especially when its a little cooler & he has his pop’s to help, this time around he only did a few obstacles but loved it nonetheless.
Now it’s Willows Farms Summer Spectacular they have their super cool A-MAIZE-ING maze on! We’ve never done it before & actually I haven’t even done a maze in over 15 years!
We were feeling brave & headed in with our cool sheet, you are given a sheet with numbers that you have to scratch off once you find the characters in the maze.
We were warned it may be a bit hot & that there were emergency exits if we needed them, it wasn’t any hotter than outside of the maze & thankfully we didn’t need the exits. B absolutely loved dotting around trying to find all of the characters & blaming me for the one time we did get lost. I think it took us around 15 minutes to half an hour to complete, we were happy that entire time & really genuinely enjoyed the experience. I’ve actually just checked the timings of my photos & it took us exactly 21 minutes to complete.
B found every character except one & the lad let him have a fabulous sticker for completing the maze. I must add this place is absolutely fantastic for photography. I love the pictures I got of B here.
Our day at Willows Farm drew to an end very early, as members we have the luxury of not feeling we need to stay hours and hours to make the entry fee worth it. We stayed for 2 hours & had a fantastic time together!
Willows Farm is a huge hit for us & we will be coming back a few times before the new term starts.
